BeerXML v2 Status?
« on: March 01, 2012, 01:28:17 PM »
From what I can gather from the forum, the current version of BeerXML v2 is 2.07 (June 2010) and the document is 2.01 (Sep 2007).

Is there a "changelog" on what has changed since 2.01?
How close to "solidified" is the standard?
Is anyone really supporting v2 out there? (BeerSmith2 and BeerToolsPro only support v1)
What will it take to get v2 to a final standard?

Chris

Hello Chris,

I'm currently developing an application using BeerXML v2.06, based on the <version /> stated within the Medieval Ale example.  It very well could be v2.07 for all I know.  I'm creating the app as a 'free time toy' and still month away from a beta release.

From what I gather, v2 will become standard once people start using it and the spec has stopped evolving like you already pointed out.

Hope this helps,
Chad

As far as I can tell there are only minor changes to the schema in v2.07. My app complains of validation errors when importing several examples. Those should be fairly easy to fix, and I don't see a point in going backwards. In fact I had hoped not to have to support the older v2 versions, which was a fair bet since it seems like nobody is using v2 in production. ;-P

Is BeerXML v2.07 already out or you are still in the process of developing it? Web developing is very interesting, in fact, it is the programming subject I enjoyed the most.
