Brewing & Batch Organizer.... CactiBrew
(1/1)
mlager:
I'm working on an application which is mainly for myself but may be something other people could use. It's being built in .NET 4.0 as an installable Windows application. It's not a replacement for a recipe creation application like BeerSmith, but is designed to import BeerXML files into a normalized MySQL database structure that can then be reported on. In version 1.0, I'm looking to incorporate the following features:
RECIPES
- Import BeerXML (version 1) files into a normalized MySQL database. XML files will be validated, checked for requirements, and data validated based on the version 1 specifications. Once version 2 is released, this will be incorporated.
- Ability to view, edit, organize, and delete imported recipes.
- Comprehensive note system for the recipe.
- Ability to create batches that are linked to recipes.
BATCHES
- Ability to view, edit, organize, and delete batches. Each batch would relate to a recipe. The batch would tracking brewing goals and outcomes for a specific recipe brewing session.
- Comprehensive note system for the batch.
Calendar
- An integrated calendar tracking batch dates, brew dates, compentition deadlines, etc.
REPORTING
- Modern and flexable repors included to print recipes, batches, brewing worksheets, metrics, trends, etc.
- Reporting system powered by Crystal Reports.
In the future I might like to extend this as a sharing application, port it to a web application, etc. Right now I'm just focusing on getting built what I personally need to manage my recipes and brew sessions in the format and process that I prefer.
