Status on BeerXML?

What's the status on BeerXml at the moment?

I'm writing a new program and i would like to adopt a standard, currently importing BeerXML from other programs with some success, but without a XSD for version 1 it's just a roll of the dice if the recipe Will load or not.
(Wrote my own XSD / checker but found that not all the "BeerXML compatible" recipes where that compatible.)
I'm looking into the version 2.x XSD now, but I'm comfused about the status, and if there is anything going on in that field?

So can anyone tell me if there is any development or should we stick to version 1.0?

Hi Rob,

Right now we have a draft v2 of BeerXML but to my knowledge the v2 XSDs are not being used yet by a commercial program.  Several different implementations of BeerXML v1 exist in a few commercial and freeware products, but since there was no XSD or other well-formed way of sharing the implementation across products - each implementation has it's own programmatic way of storing information in the v1 BeerXML.

The newest version of the BeerXML v2 XSDs can be found at: http://www.speakeasy.net/~antonw/beer_xml/BeerXML_v2_05a.zip

Development is still continuing and I've requested feedback on the addition of namespaces to the draft standard.  Unfortunately I haven't had time yet to generate a default java sample implementation or update the BeerSmith and ProMash to BeerXML v2 converters (they are severly out of date at this point).

Sorry for the late feedback, but is it safe to use version 2.0 of BeerXML. No major changes up ahead?

  Not a lot of activity lately.  I've been looking at adding this to a future version of BeerSmith, but it will be some time before it is released.

Is anyone developing against v2 of the schema?
I have noticed that the files date back to 2006, has this project been abandoned?

BeerXML 2.X is still active and the XSDs are available for download.  If breaking changes are required to support some new facet of beer making, we'll need to start a v 3.0 branch.
